Host Ron Beacom focuses on a broad spectrum of "life stage" topics, including health and wellness, civic engagement, and everyday living in our communities.

A big thank you to the Catholic Foundation of Michigan for granting us the funds to upgrade our conference room technology. Now we can hold hybrid meetings with both virtual and in-person participants. We are so grateful for this upgrade!
Installation has begun! Thank you Catholic Foundation of Michigan for granting us the funding to install a new video conferencing system. The system will allow us to communicate better with, not only those able to join us in person, but with those whose needs require them to stay at home. Thank you also to Structured Technologies for your matching gift! Check out these pics of our old system and the beginning of the installation. More pics to come! (Can you tell we are excited?!)
Thank you to Congressman Dan Kildee for securing $1,500,000 in federal funding for Genesee County Habitat for Humanity's Flint Home Improvement Fund. The fund helps Flint residents make home upgrades, including furnace and water heater replacement, roof replacement or repairs, deck and porch replacement, new siding and other home upgrades to address health and safety issues.
"This funding will enable us to implement a holistic strategy to neighborhood improvement by directly investing in the families who live here,'' states Thomas Hutchison, Executive Director of Genesee County Habitat for Humanity. "It will give homeowners in the City of Flint access to critical capital for home improvements, who are often left out of traditional lending and federal resources. It's yet another way Congressman Kildee's office has taken a bold approach to supporting the communities they serve."

Support from the SpartanNash - VG's retail scan helps people like Kailee:
Without a support system in place, many people just getting out of prison often return to their previous way of life. “I went to prison due to my addiction” explains Kailee, “When I was released, I knew if I didn’t change my way of living, things would never be any different. I was overwhelmed with the list of things I needed to do, like getting my driver’s license back and getting a job. Once I got my license back, I started looking for a job. I put in applications all over the place, but no one wants to hire someone who just got out of prison.”
“I learned about Habitat’s Apprenticeship Program. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but knew I needed something to get me going. I applied and called my dad that night and asked him to teach me how to use a tape measure over Facetime. I started the program in 2019 and that’s when I really started to feel like I had a purpose. I learned how to use power tools and we made a picnic table, I built a deck, got my high school diploma and even got LEAD certified. When the program ended, Habitat knew I was looking for something permanent and they offered me a job.”
“With Habitat, I had a second chance,” she says. “My life was crazy before, now I go to church, I got engaged and was finally able to have my daughter move back in with me.”
Thank you for your support!
An item that is a common sight in our ReStore is an end table. Tons of people donate end tables when they no longer fit their interior design plans or needs. We decided to take on the challenge of finding a way to spruce up these end tables and give them a new life. Whether you have an end table of your own you want to make over, or you find one in our ReStore, we hope this ReStore Furniture Flip gives you the inspiration you need to turn something old into something new!

Thanks to a grant from the Clio Area Community Fund and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, landscaping was put in at our build in Vienna Township. Due to their generosity, debris was removed, grading was completed, erosion mats were installed, the lawn was seeded, and perennials and a cherry tree were planted. Thank you also to Bordine's Nursery for donating the perennials and to our Habitat Homeowner Partners, Habitat staff and our wonderful volunteers, who all worked together to get the job done. Can't wait until Spring to see the results! Thank you everyone!
The Clio Area Community Fund is part of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint which serves the common good in Genesee County—building a strong community by engaging people in philanthropy and developing the community’s permanent endowment—now and for generations to come. CFGF helps donors support the causes they care about, today or through their estates. Since 1988 the Community Foundation has granted more than $130 million to nonprofit organizations to build a thriving community.
