Our Intro to Homebuyer Education & Fair Housing class will go over Fair Housing laws, help individuals decide whether or not they are ready to puchase a home, the costs and responsibilities associated with maintaining a home, and basic personal finance issues such as credit and budgeting. There is also information presented in this class regarding land contracts. This class meets the needs for homebuyers that are purchasing a home from the Land Bank in Genesee County. This class WILL NOT meet the needs for any MSHDA loans or down payment assistance.
Our Homebuyer Education class covers topics ranging from how to navigate the mortgage application process, assess and compare mortgage terms, to how prospective buyers can best prepare themselves financially for the costs associated with homeownership. It also includes assessing readiness to purchase, the process of obtaining a mortgage loan, the costs and responsibilities associated with maintaining a home, and basic personal finance issues such as credit and budgeting. This class is more indepth than the class listed above and IS MSHDA and Land Bank approved.
Individuals who have attended homebuyer courses may be better prepared and know what to expect during the mortgage application process.
