As Flint residents and grassroots leaders continue to grapple with the effects of the City's ongoing water crisis, the need for community led advocacy, collaboration, and planning at the grassroots level has never been greater. To support this need, Genesee County Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with Metro Community Development, has engaged NeighborWorks America, a national leader in the community development and leadership field, to provide Grassroots Rising, a 3-part Leadership Institute and Resource Summit.
Grassroots Rising, will provide residents and grassroots leaders with the tools and strategies needed to grow the capacity of their neighborhood association, block club, or other grassroots group to serve as effective and confident advocates of community change, plan and organize for resident-led neighborhood action, and effectively utilize and pool existing grassroots funding resource opportunities to maximize the collective impact of those opportunities on the neighborhood scale. |
