Home Partners
Methodist Build
We are excited to partner with local Methodist Churches again in 2010. This year Methodist is partnering with Tanisha Lattimore and her two smiling sons, one age 6 and the other 9. Tanisha is so pleased to have the opportunity to make a better life for her family through the Habitat program. Tanisha works very hard and is extremely involved with giving her kids the love and tools they need to thrive. She knows that it all starts at home, and a warm and safe place is going to be such a huge help for her family. We are ready to see Tanisha's dreams come true! If you are a Methodist member that would like to get involved, please contact Adam Haffajee: 810-603-1366 . This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Shirley and Lillie Mae Godwin
Shirley and her mother live together. The pair are so grateful and humbled at the wonderful support of the Youth United group. Shirley and Lillie Mae are working hard to complete their hours so that they can get started on building their home. Right now they are living separately and this home will allow them to be back together as they should be! Another shining example of what your work can help make right.

What is Youth United?

Youth United is an exciting initiative through Habitat for Humanity that invites youth, ages 5-25, to work together to fund and build homes in their own communities. Targeting young, enthusiastic volunteers to build homes, Youth United develops leadership skills and engages youth in positive service experiences.

Why participate?

  • It will benefit your community.

Young people energized by community service will become dynamic community members and leaders. Habitat for Humanity projects can unify diverse racial, political, sectarian and ethnic groups, and build lasting relationships that strengthen individuals and communities.

  • It will benefit each young person involved.

Working with Habitat for Humanity is a great way for young people to put their energy and commitment to good use and realize that they can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

  • It will benefit a local family currently living in poverty housing.

Thanks to this new group of Habitat volunteers, another family in your community will enjoy the blessings of a simple, decent home.

What is Thrivent Builds Homes?

Thrivent Logo

Through Thrivent Builds Homes, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will sponsor the construction of hundreds of additional Habitat for Humanity homes every year in the United States by combining the efforts of 2.8 million Thrivent Financial members with Lutheran congregations and institutions, communities, partner families and Habitat affiliates. More than two-thirds of the funding for each home will be contributed by Thrivent Financial, its members and local chapters. The remaining funding will be raised through the ongoing efforts of local Lutheran congregations and Habitat affiliates.

Thrivent Financial is committed to helping its members show their care and concern for others. Since 1991, Thrivent Financial and its members have worked with Habitat for Humanity to build more than 500 homes, raise more than $25 million and contribute more than 1.4 million volunteer hours in homebuilding time. Besides the unprecedented level of financial and volunteer support this new program will bring to Habitat for Humanity, what makes Thrivent Builds Homes different than these past efforts is the new era of collaboration between the two organizations. With Thrivent Builds more homes can be built in less time than was possible with past programs.

In addition, all Habitat affiliates tithe (that is, take 10% of funds raised) to support building Habitat homes in other countries. Tithing from Thrivent Builds Homes contributions will allow up to 500 additional homes to be constructed around the world.
